League of Women Voters Candidate Forum
Merav joined the other Albany County Commission candidates for a live forum hosted by the League of Women Voters and the Albany County Public Library. Watch the full recording below, or read a few highlights from what Merav had to say.
On data centers: “Let them benefit the community: generate their own electricity, pay for their own water systems, and help fund things like wildlife overpasses on I-80. They’re the billionaires. Let them pay for it.“
“I am highly concerned about water availability… what I call water security. When we talk about increasing housing, do we have the infrastructure to supply it? My key word is planning for the future.”
the talk shop interview
Merav joined 1 Talk Shop for a 30-minute conversation on water security, the Casper Aquifer, and what 25 years studying climate change taught her about Albany County’s future. Listen to the full interview alongside the video.
“You can’t have a functioning community without having water. That is currently the biggest concern we have. Talk to anybody, in city limits or out of city limits, about the aquifer and water.”
“What can a county commissioner do? We have the legal right to impose overlays, the same way we did with the aquifer. We can put overlays over wetlands. That gives us tools to retain water in the valley.”
